These fit over the regular shoes and pants of the firefighter, and he can usually just step right into them to save time. The next pieces of fire rescue gear are the fireproof coat and helmet. The pants and coat are sometimes called "bunker gear," and they are among the most important pieces of protective fire rescue gear.
Other pieces of fire rescue gear that are commonly used are fire gloves, head lamps, and axes. These various pieces of fire gear work to not only protect the firefighter, but to allow him to do his job of saving lives and protecting property.
